Drink Some For Me Pal

It’s funny what things stick with you from great films, and most geeks will have assorted film memorabilia, be it action figures, posters or eve props from the films.

At some point all of us have wondered what it would be like to own some gizmo or gadget from the silver screen, from the iconic lightsaber, to the gritty M41-A Pulse Rifle, or maybe just James Bond’s submersible Lotus Espirit.

Well, I was given a pair of whisky glasses for my birthday. No great shakes there you might say. However, the Dame is a lady of rare distinction, and tracked down the very same glasses used in Bladerunner by one Rick Deckard. They are roughly square, and were designed by Cini Boeri in 1972. They are perfect for quick slug of Johnny Walker Black Label, after a hard day retiring replicants.

Needless to say I am equal parts delighted and terrified, lest I break one of these weighty and beautiful glasses. Maybe next year, if I’m good, I’ll get the UD-4 ‘Cheyenne’ Dropship from Aliens, not the model you understand, the real thing. It will certainly make the commute more interesting.
